The International Carnival and Mask Museum is an original and unique place in Europe. Discover masks and costumes from all over the world.

Enter the fascinating world of the mask. Travel through the world of winter festivals and carnivals. Discover the ritual functions of the mask on the five continents along with the masked festivities in rural regions, big European cities and the carnivals of Wallonia.

Enjoy the famous carnival of Binche, as if you were there, by means of an audiovisual show on big screen.

Exhibits


The Masks From the 4 Corners of the Globe exhibit gives an overview of the most representative and characteristic pieces from Africa, Asia, Oceania and presents the museum's fifty most beautiful pieces. From 10 February, the major pieces of the four other continents are exhibited.


Closed on Monday, Ash Wednesday, 1 November and from 24 December until 2 January included.

Ticket office is open until 4.30 pm.

Guided tours by reservation: in French, Dutch, English, German, Italian and Spanish (according to availability).
Gallery of Binche: audio-guide in French, English and Dutch.
Bilingual visitor guide (FR-NL) available for temporary exhibitions.

Visits:
- Sections: carnivals of Binche and Wallonia. Winter feasts and big European carnivals. Educational section open to the public.
- Temporary exhibition.

Access: E19, exit 21 (Le Roeulx), direction Binche (at the back of the Grand Place, next to the church).


Free access every first Sunday of the month for all audiences including schools of the French Community.

Free parking and easy access for mobility impaired persons.

Activities (reservation required): with the support of the DGAC (Directorate-General for Cultural Affairs).

Creative workshops and readings for children.

Breakfasts or snacks possible (reservation required).

Birthday parties are organised in the auditorium or the cafeteria.
