"El Catiau" (as he is fondly called in Mons) -symbol of Mons' identity- was erected in the 17th century, after the collapse of the bell tower in 1661. The only baroque belfry (high 87 m) in Belgium, classically decorated. The walls are made of Bray sandstone, the embellishments, pillars and pilasters of blue stone.
